Care that looks forthe cause, not the noise.

Chiropractic care is more than symptom relief. It's a regular, non-invasive check of how well your spine and nervous system are working together — and a specific correction when they aren't.

What an adjustment actually is

A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, specific input to a joint that isn't moving the way it should. It isn't force for the sake of force. The work is in the analysis that comes first: finding exactly which segment is restricted, in which direction, and deciding whether it needs to be touched at all.

Dr. Means locates that restriction, corrects it, and then leaves it alone. The body does the rest of the work — that's the whole premise of the profession, and it's the reason a good adjustment is a small, precise thing rather than a big one.

The Blair Technique

Dr. Means trained in the Blair Technique at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Blair is an upper-cervical method — it focuses on the top two vertebrae of the neck, where the spine meets the skull and where the anatomy is different on every single person.

Because those joints are asymmetric by nature, Blair work is built around measuring your neck rather than assuming it looks like anyone else's. The adjustment that follows is gentle and specific: no twisting of the neck, no cracking for effect.

Why the spine keeps coming up

The spinal column is the housing for the pathway between your brain and the rest of you. When a segment of that column is restricted or misaligned — chiropractors call it a subluxation — the joint stops moving well and the tissue around it doesn't like it.

Correcting the mechanics is what chiropractic is for. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or emergency care, and Dr. Means will say so out loud if that's what you need.

How it works here

The care, start to finish.

A real exam first

History, posture, motion, and a hands-on spinal exam. X-rays when they're indicated. Nothing gets adjusted before it gets examined.

Questions

The questions that come up first.

Not seeing your question? The clinic will answer it on the phone.

It shouldn't. Most people describe pressure and then release. If something is acutely inflamed, Dr. Means will work around it and tell you why.
